Motivation to choose the night course in engineering
This paper presents the research about the motivation of students to choose night period for enrolling engineering programs. The survey was conducted in two different countries of different continents but united by the language and common history. The results are showed in details and some conclusions about the motivations are presented in accordance with the results taking into account the geography, the economic and historical moments of both countries involved in the researchThis work is supported by national funds through FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia within the Project Scope: UID/CEC/00319/2019/2019 and the Project UID/CTM/002642C2T – Centro de Ciência e Tecnologia Têxtil
Engineering Education for the improvement of practice : preparing for labour market
Technical skill is associated with understanding and proficiency in a particular type of activity,
especially those that are involved in methods, processes and procedures. As an example, one can
take the training of the engineer, who - mostly - is focused moreover, on calculations,
simulations and projects, characterizing it as an individual, above all, objective. Since the human
ability can be understood as the ability of individuals to interact with others to form similar one
that respects his fellow and nature this individual is aware of his/her own attitudes, opinions and
beliefs about others. Realizing the existence of other attitudes, opinions and beliefs different
from his/hers, the individual is able to understand them. By becoming aware of the need to
combine their technical skills (to run its specific activity) with the human ability (to develop
proactive human relationship), this professional develops the conceptual ability, which is directly
associated with the coordination and integration of all attitudes and interests of the organization
that owns or provides the service. In other words, not technical enough to be good, if not able to
understand comprehensively the meaning of the activity that is being exerted, through these three
interconnected skills. This aspect is the main one in terms of engineering formation for 21st
Century Labor Market for engineers. The goal of this work is to show the engineering programs
developed by COPEC with the objective to form engineers ready for the present labor market.
The most successful program is the one based on Scientific Research Projects.(undefined
Projections
The academic community dedicated to the search of science of communication and arts can count with an international forum for the discussions about communication and arts research. It is the WCCA’2013 - VI World Congress on Communication and Arts organized by COPEC ¾ Science and Education Research Council and promoted by WCCA ¾ World Council on Communication and Arts. It happens for the first time in Australia. The theme of this edition Projections” has brought researchers and professionals of these areas to participate at the conference showing their interesting scientific works
Beyond art, beyond humanities, beyond technology : a new creativity
The history of humanity shows how important it is the communication made in many ways by means of art! Communication and arts aer part of human life in a daily basis such that it is necessary to attempt to the importance of communication of its many channels and now more than ever-in real time. Not to mention the art that expresses in many ways the beauty, the odd and the reflections of realities. The academic community dedicated to the search of science of communication and arts can count with an international forum for the discussions about communication and arts research. it is the WCCA´2012 - World Congress in Communication and Arts organized by COPEC - Science and Education Research the Thema of WCCA´2012: "Beyond Art, Beyond Humanities, Beyond Technology: A New Creativity" has brought researchers and professionals of theses areas to participate at the conference showing their interesting scientific works
Study abroad program impacting engineering formation : cultural immersion (CIB)
The study abroad experience described in this paper has showed as one of the most effective
ways to promote the retention rate in engineering programs. Among the outcomes are the
dynamic addition to undergraduate career; the opportunity for long-lasting friendships; the
enhancement of technical skills and knowledge; understanding the different cultures and
histories and an addition to life enrichment. The main goal of the program is to provide the future
engineers with tools and extra experiences to develop a career as engineers in a more adequate to
the present challenging and mutant work market.(undefined
Engineering Education in Iberian America
The large Continent of America has in its
territory besides overseas regions, dependencies and colonies 35 sovereign countries, 25 in North America and 12 in South America. Among them there are two big countries Brazil, which official language is Portuguese and Argentina, which official language is Spanish. Both are of political and economical importance in South America. They both belong to the so called Iberian
America, which is a term used since the second half of the 19th century to refer collectively to the countries in the Americas, which were formerly colonies of Spain or Portugal. The Iberian countries in Europe are Portugal, Spain, Andorra and Gibraltar. The objective of this paper is to present the history and he current status of
engineering education in Iberian America countries
Brazil and Argentina followed by the countries that
originated the engineering education in these countries, Portugal and Spain
A program designed to empower engineering educators
Utilizing emerging technologies to provide
expanded learning opportunities is critical to the success of future generations. So teachers have to be prepared to motivate
and entice the students about getting knowledge pertinent for
their formation as engineers. This paper describes the "International Engineering Educator" developed by the engineering education research team of COPEC – Science and Education Research Council. It is offered by the International
Institute of Education of COPEC, which is a certification organization in accordance with the Ministry of Education of the
Country referring to the National Law of Higher Education. It also offers a professional register as "International Engineering
Educator" of the International Society for Engineering Pedagogy
for those who are interested in such certification as something
else. The target attendees for this program are the engineering community of CPLP – Community of Portuguese Language
Countries. It is successful and many interested professionals are attending the program
Rethinking engineering education
The Professional of today needs to acquire a dynamic ability to absorb information, adjust to organizational
goals, and navigate in a complex work environment. For this reason, a classic approach seems to be more useful for the demands of today's job market. It is at least interesting to notice, that the classic approach is being neglected, at a time when its product might be more interesting than ever. The Engineering Education Team of COPEC – Science and Education Research Council has designed a program that is knowledge centered and specially challenging, which integrates classical engineering approaches and real experience in order to achieve a high level of engineers ready to perform as professionals or researchers. It aims to form the Engineer – a professional that is capable to learn for life and be creative in many ways. This work is financed by FEDER funds through the

Engineering programs for engineers: a global higher education perspective
New demands for engineering education are taking place due to the deep transformations that the world is
facing. The way to overcome the constant mutation and challenges that engineers have to face professional programs are dimensioned in accordance with the knowledge and practice that are necessary for the group of professional engineers. These are the customized courses. Students make the requirements and the program is designed to fit their needs. Briefly, classes are in classroom with technical visits to different organizations and the content is available on line. The amount of work comprises the amount of hours that are necessary to accomplish the program focusing in the main goal, which is to have a certified course of specialists in a certain field of expertise. The proposed program is an investment that guarantees return by the strategic vision for a successful performance, the higher management capacity and growth of intellectual capital
“Innovative office”: building future for young engineers
This paper shows the course designed by COPEC – Science and Education Research Council education research team, for engineering students what is called “working with communities course”, which provides the students of engineering in 3rd year the chance to work with consultancy for the entrepreneurial community, in the region. It is for an engineering school of a private university and the goal is provide the needed resources to enable interdisciplinary efforts to prepare engineering students to tackle real-world challenges in engineering, entrepreneurship and new business ventures as professionals. The process is designed in order to offer a space that has been named after “innovative office”, where local entrepreneurs go with a problem or project to discuss and to find sustainable solutions under the consultancy of young engineers.
So far the program has been working well and is opening doors for young engineers.Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologi
